What Is It?If your doctor has talked to you about a gestational diabetes diet, chances are good that he believes that you have gestational diabetes. Usually he has reached this decision based on a glucose tolerance test that he has given you or other tests that have pointed in this direction. The diet has the goal of helping to control the amount of glucose within your blood stream at any time. If this level of glucose does not remain at safe levels, your body could enter hyperglycemic shock which is dangerous to both you and your baby. For this reason, if your doctor has recommended a gestational diabetes diet, you should do all that you can to follow it for the sake of yours and your baby's health.
